HARD WORK!!!!!

Hard work always pays off no matter what the situation is. Even if we play a team that is most definite we wont be able to beat them, but with the hard work we put in practice pays off in the game. Coach always explains that to us here's an exact quote, "give it your all its all we can ask from you because when it comes to the game the one that works the hardest ends up with the tackle or the yards". So we do our best in practice because when your in the game you will definitely have to do most of those things you do in practice as they say practice makes perfect. So if you think of it the more you practice on something you'll have to do in the game it will become second nature to you. That's what makes us a better team because us as an individual we do our best to get things in our head so we don't have to thing much on the field at a game and all we have to think about is wheres the ball at so u can make the tackle or wheres the defense covering you so you can throw a good pass or catch it or make yards. That's something everybody doesn't realize we work hard theirs just other teams that's more talented then us but we still give that team a hard time. People don't even come to our games to say anything, but this season will show everybody what's going to go down. We also have the same people in the game the whole game so we are tired before the half but thanks to the running we do in the summer we don't get as tired that quick. We like to call hard work in the huddle and make break to it cause it reminds us about all that hard work we put in for the games. That summer activity is a great thing it kills us but its worth it, we like to call it HELL WEEK!!! When we are in the huddle in practice we say 1,2,3, hard work. At the end of practice we say 1,2,3, Lafayette 4,5,6, patriots 7,8,9, together we stand, divided we fall or we say championship at the end.

Summer Is Here

In the summer what we do is we run all day long. Theirs different sights we go to in other words different schools we go to for something called Big Apple. this year we go to Lincoln's field for this activity last year we went to Grady's field for this activity. What we do their is almost like H.S.P.D. just without our pads on. We also do things more as a team than separate and we run mostly the whole day their, then at the end when theirs like an hour left we do 7 on 7's. we are basically all tired that we cant even stand right in our stance or even run cause we did so much running earlier that day. Yes it's tiring but very fun at the end just that you cant give as much effort cause your body is aching so much. During that day we also go to the weight room in that school. Yet again we do it as a team i think that things like this has helped us in working as a team better cause we got to know each other in a way that when the quarter back throws the ball to his receiver he knows where and how to throw it. Linemen and the running backs, the linemen knows how the running backs want and likes their gap to be open. Football is a team sport, one player cant make a difference in a game but maybe that one player can change everybody's attitude on the field so that we can win the game. This activity last for about 2 to 3 weeks I believe. After we done with that we practice on our field and run for stamina again. What we do is we run about 5 or more different stations and thats about half the day. When we're done with that our coach lets us go to the store get something to eat and relax. Then we go back on the field and we start doing more football stuff and throughout the week we get our pads little by little and we start hitting after. Then after like 3 days we run less and do more football things like hit, position drills, and certain plays we go over defensively and offensively. This little activity we do is something like mini-camp then our season is here.

May Ball Is Over, Time For The Summer

Well now that H.P.S.D. is over teams think about bigger things like for the future, which is the season. Many players on the team cant wait for the season cause we are so confident we're going to start winning. We have 2 scrimmages this year and that means set the tone in those practice games for the season and we can have that intensity for the real games and start off great. We are looking for undefeated this season but we all know that its hard to go from losing to winning, but who knows it was an amiracle that we won 3 games so we can be undefeated. It comes together if you think of it. Im not worried about this season because I'm used to playing on varsity, i had moved up as a sophomore and I'm not the only one we had a freshman move up to varsity as running back, that helped me in a long run just like my coach said it would. The team is ready for the season they can't wait to show the school and other schools in the our borrow and who we play against that we are back ready and improved. We've gotten stronger than what we was. We started practicing earlier than other teams so we can learn more things also get some conditioning so in the summer when we run a lot we don't be as tired as we was last summer.

H.S.P.D.

This is a program that all schools in the borrow participate in, H.S.P.D. stands for high school player development. The NFL is what gave us this activity which is kind of like camp. Our school Lafayette has actually improved and we know this because we do 7 on 7 at the end of the day and the patriots has been catching interceptions on defense and had completions for more than 20 yards and this is 5 division teams that we are playing with and against. What they really do is they mix the teams up so its different teams on a team, black team or white team. Other teams when they seened the patriots they said "they actually came this year" and we didn't have many people but our performance was incredible. The last day of this camp is Friday and we play as a team against the other teams so that's going to really determine how good we have gotten. Well at the line men drills they have full contact and I thought that our line  men we're going to get beat down but they did incredible even our J.V. line men did great. Well unfortunately I wasn't able to come that Friday but I heard that our team was giving other teams like Midwood and New Utrecht the work patriot style as in hitting. Well that's it on H.S.P.D. see ya.

AFTER A WONDERFUL SEASON.

After our great season we head off to the weight room to get those muscles for next season. Our coaches are happy for the hard work we put in as players throughout the season and it all payed off also, the techniques the coach has taught us and the smarts we have thanks to them. One thing for sure the coach says "during the season I will not be smiling because I know we should make it to at least the playoffs and you still might not even see me smirk if we make it that far". As you can see our coach believes in us and so do we towards him which is why we are working hard at the weight room. The one thing that might hurt the us is losing seyquan grant who was our leader. Now that we have set the season in the right tune so far. we have many players at the weight room, we have some bodies for the may-ball also. This week 5/24/10-5/28/10 we will be at Grady high school for something called H.S.P.D. I believe it stands for high school players development. That's where all schools from the same borrow participate and practice different skills with each other. Well lets get back on topic, about the weight room we've been working hard many of us look like we got stronger and others you can actually see results on their body. Those that have been their consistently are the ones with the best results and that's just about half the team.

THE ENDING OF SEASON 2009

The Lafayette patriots has proven great power. We had not a great season but had a great big step forward from the losing streak. We left the 2009 season with a record of 3-7, say good bye to that losing streak, well at least for now. While the patriots has shown everyone that we can win and want to continue that. Even though everybody from our schools has put us down we still had a great out break. We were just as surprised as the school was, it was an emotional day for us. We continued our intensity throughout the rest of the season, we didn't win ever game after our first win but, the way we won those 3 games its incredible, to see a team that wasn't winning end up getting 2 shut outs and 1 of those shut outs was a blow out at the same time how crazy, the score was 38-0. The other shut out was by a touchdown, all we had to do was lock the team down defensively and that's exactly what we did, the score was 6-0. The first game we won was by a field goal, who would of known the Lafayette football team would ever win by a field goal that's advance skills, by the way you can watch that game on youtube.com the videos name is varsity Lafayette @ Stuyvesant or at least something like that, the score was 7-9. So as I said the ways we won were impressing so that's what makes teams scared of us for next season and the same players that played the season of 2009, they will be on the team still. From what I heard theirs teams that don't want to play the patriots cause we have heart and make the game difficult also, we hit hard. Thats just a shout out to those that thinks we're soft.
